Head Instructor Erik Lee is an energetic and engaging instructor that connects with kids through humor and enthusiasm. His primary goal is to create kids who are happy, healthy, and durable.

Children's
Classes
Our Black Belt Training Program meets twice a week and children may begin classes at six years of age. As students go up in rank, their options for class times increase.

Each
class begins with a gesture of respect. The bow is used to honor the National
flag, the Kuk Sool Association flag, the Grand Master, and the Head Instructor.
Parents who watch the class are not required to bow, however, other students
who are present (even if they are not participating in the class) should
join in the salutation.

Before training begins, the instructor usually starts with a pep
talk that includes reciting The Student Creed:
1. I will respect myself and others.
2. I will learn Kuk Sool to train my body, mind, and spirit.
3. I will pay attention in class so that I may learn.
4. I will use Kuk Sool techniques only in self-defense.
During these brief discussions, the instructor focuses the childrens
attention on the intent of the class or lesson of the day. Very often,
the instructor will remind the children that, At school or on the
playground, the Kuk Sool student is usually the nicest kid around. He
or she will shake your hand and say hello and never be a bully.
This
kind of positive reinforcement of good manners becomes engrained in the
childs mind as a important characteristic of a true martial artist.
Before then, we offer two classes: Tiny Tigers (for kids ages 4-5 years) & Martial Skills (6+) which meet once a week on Saturdays. We are happy to talk about placing your child in an appropriate class.

After a brief discussion, the children warm-up. Frequently a student will
conduct the warm-up as this affords each child an opportunity to experience
the satisfaction that comes with good leadership.

Next the class will study either basic kicking and punching, traditional
forms, techniques, or falling principals (tumbling). Before interacting
with one another, the students stand at attention and bow to their partner.
This simple act reminds the student to act respectfully toward the person
they are partnering with. Furthermore, because the classes are mixed gender,
boys and girls become comfortable interacting with one another throughout
the awkward pre-teen years.

Finally the class will bow out once again acknowledging the national flag,
the association flag, the grand master, the head master.
Many times parents are concerned that by studying a martial art their
child may become more aggressive and use his or her new skills to hurt
other children. To those parents we offer an invitation: come and see
our students--they are well-behaved and respectful. They come to understand
their own strength and how to use it properly. Often our students go on to do quite well in other sports and academics as well.
